A Beacon of Hope

Welcome to St. Joseph Shrine: A Beacon of Hope in the Heart of Detroit

In the storied Motor City, just across Gratiot Road from the famed Eastern Market, a venerable steeple rises to meet the modern skyline. This offering of stone amidst a sea of steel, a sacred place of worship, prayer, and devotion for thousands, was once the tallest building in Detroit. Elevated to a Shrine in the year 2020 by His Grace, Allen Henry Vigneron, then Archbishop of Detroit, parishioners and pilgrims alike have flocked here for more than 150 years to practice the Faith and to petition glorious St. Joseph, head of the Holy Family and patron of the Universal Church, in their time of need

Help us restore this magnificent landmark - an anchor for our community, and a beacon of hope for all - to its full glory.
